Abaris, 1992

Raimondi was fascinated and inspired by the legend of Abaris, said to be a sage, deviner and magician of Scythia, an ancient culture on the north shore of the Black Sea. Abaris was said to be in possession of a golden arrow – the dart of Avaris – given to him by Apollo, that enabled him to travel through the air and become invisible. The polished bronze sculpture is in the collection of Vitale, Caturano & Co., P.C., Boston, Massachusetts.
