Elizabeth Albert
American, 1962 - Present
Elizabeth Albert is a visual artist, writer, and curator based in Brooklyn, and an associate professor at St. John’s University in Queens, where she teaches in the Department of Art and Design and the Institute for Core Studies. She has received grants and fellowships from the NEA/ Mid-Atlantic Arts Council, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Inc., the MacDowell Colony, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Furthermore Grants in Publishing. Her paintings and works on paper have been exhibited nationally, and she is the author/editor of the critically acclaimed book, Silent Beaches, Untold Stories: New York City’s Forgotten Waterfront (Damiani, 2016.) She is an active member of NYC H2O and The Gowanus Canal Conservancy, where she has been volunteering with her students since 2010.
