Robert Cronin was born in Lexington, Massachusetts in 1936 and presently lives and works in Falls Village, Connecticut.


He received his B.F.A. in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design and his M.F.A. in Painting from Cornell University. Cronin has spent much time teaching and inspiring students He has taught at Bennington College in Vermont, Brown University in Rhode Island, Michigan State University, School of Worcester Art Museum, Worcester, Massachusetts, and at St. John’s University in Minnesota.


His work has been exhibited in many galleries and museums including Brooklyn Museum of Art; National Academy Museum, New York; Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; National Air and Space Museum, Washington, D.C.; Worcester Art Museum, Worcester, Massachusetts; Museum of Art at Rhode Island School of Design; Museum of Fine Arts, Springfield, Massachusetts; DeCordova Museum, Lincoln, Massachusetts; Boston Public Library; Wiggins Collection, Boston; Museum of Art, University of Oklahoma, Norman; Kresge Art Museum; Michigan State University; Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, Massachusetts; and Whitman College, Walla Walla, Washington.
