Artist's website

Dan Gamble was born in Beloit, Wisconsin in 1956. He earned his BFA in printmaking from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and his MFA in painting and drawing at the University of New Mexico. He currently lives and works in the Chicago area.  He is the recipient of an Illinois Arts Council Fellowship, 2001, and CAAP Grant Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Chicago, 1997 - 1999. Past solo exhibitions include the Roy Boyd Gallery in Chicago, IL and Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago, IL.

For more than two decades Gamble has produced drawings and paintings that are multifaceted in terms of formal and spiritual investigation. Dan Gamble’s meticulously crafted paintings and drawings feature imagery and vast spaces that reconcile or hold in suspension both science and art, the sublime and the particular, theory and closely observed reality. Somehow playful and serious at the same time, his landscape-like visions suggest a world beyond our sensory perception.
