Equuleus, 1980
Latin for “little horse,” Equuleus is one of the 48 constellations identified by Ptolemy in the second century. Raimondi’s sculpture evokes the abstract lyrical grace and delicacy of a foal and, at the same time, combines some of the powerful and linear formality of the later sculptures in his Geometric Minimalism series.
