American, 1941 - Present
Katherine Porter was born in 1941 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She received a BA from Colorado College and an honorary doctorate from Colby College and Bowdoin College, both in Maine.
She has shown twice in the Whitney Biennial and solo exhibitions at the Knoedler Gallery in London, the Nina Nielsen Gallery in Boston, the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts and the Andre Emmerich Gallery in New York. Her work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MOMA, Whitney in New York, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the Tel Aviv Museum in Jerusalem. She lives and works in Madison, Wisconsin.
